Event Details

Hear how repeated childhood stress of abuse, neglect, poverty, parents with mental health or substance abuse issues has a biological, tangible effect on early brain development. The ACE study (Adverse Childhood Events) uncovered a stunning link between childhood trauma and the chronic disease/disability people develop as adults, in addition to high risks for psychiatric and substance abuse disorders. In an era of tightening budgets and bottom-line focus, it is imperative to not only be informed on why our patients behave as they do, but understand the far reaching implications for organizations, environments, and a culture that are trauma engendered.
