Event Details

Sleep apnea (officially now known as sleep disordered breathing) and narcolepsy can be challenging to identify. Each child does not manifest the same signs and symptoms. Common symptoms can be vague, such as uncontrolled asthma, hyperactivity, or falling asleep in class. With untreated sleep apnea, medical conditions can become aggravated and difficult to control. With narcolepsy, this condition often manifests in teenage years and is commonly shuffled off to poor sleep habits. Left untreated, narcolepsy leads to poor grades and unemployment due to the child’s inability to stay awake to be successful. Learn how to recognize and treatment options for these under-diagnosed medical conditions.
