Workplace violence is an increasing situation affecting over 2 million American workers yearly. Healthcare workers are at an increased risk of falling victim to workplace violence because of the nature of the profession. Hear about the definition and prevalence of workplace violence, along with different de-escalation techniques to use when faced with violence in the workplace. The Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) position statements on violence in the workplace will be reviewed, but content can be applied to outpatient clinic and inpatient hospital situations.
