Event Details

Nurse Practitioners (NPs) need to be able to understand and apply fundamental genetic and genomic knowledge to comprehend and implement treatment regimens, as well as providing education to patients and their caregivers. Review the basics of genetics and genomics in a non-threating and fun style, incorporating all five senses. Basic cell biology, inheritance patterns, genetic testing, and informed consent will be discussed. Learn more about how the human genome can assist to diagnose, treat, and prevent common and rare diseases, along with strategies and resources to share with staff and patients. No prior genetic or genomic knowledge is required.
