Event Details

Advances in critical-care medicine have led to increased survival in critically-ill patients. However, survivors often suffer from a host of issues related to their physical and cognitive functioning well after completion of ICU treatment, a syndrome which is now recognized as post intensive care syndrome (PICS). Learn about ICU Delirium as a highly prevalent and major risk factor associated with development of PICS. Signs and symptoms of PICS will be explained, along with recommended treatment approaches. Early interventions targeted at prevention of PICS will be discussed, as well as the long term impact of PICS on survivor’s quality of life, their families and caregivers.
