Using case studies, explore and define illegal workplace behaviors including harassment and discrimination from other health care team members or administrators. Learn a triage system to help identify the type of difficult person one is confronting, and evidence-based strategies to mitigate the stress effect. Remedies to both prevent and stop toxic workplace behavior will be discussed, along with an outline of the evidence needed if there is a legal remedy. Accurately identifying the type of difficult others is a key initial step in knowing how to best handle these challenges, so that the workers are protected and the toxic interaction is de-escalated.
